They need to be about the animation quality, fluidity, and emotions going forward rather than some techical high mark achievement that adds minimal value to the gaming experience.

Oh and engaging and compelling AI must be the number 1 thing they compete on going forward as well.

I agree with this completely. Iwata has also said as much.

What we need now are better games, not better graphics. We've yet to hit the peek of what current generation graphics can do why would we need increase costs for devs?

We need more devs like these who are more worried about the games and the gameplay then trying to attain photo realism which isn't remotely possible with the current generation of tech.

The only games I've seen taht I would say were photo realistic were the ones that used actual photos(Mortal Combat for example).
