What they mean is that it's a direction, so in the end, in their eyes, MS has little interest in the dedicated gaming market. That was just to get a foot in the door. So in the end, if the gaming aspect of their hub living room machine fades away it's no biggie.
And this has to do with OP because this ties in with MS's CURRENT (gen 8) plans for the nextbox to have a big emphasis on streaming and digital content, above and beyond just games.
