Iwata is right in saying that many people critics were stating that the Wii was going to be the final nail in Nintendo's coffin. They were not a all saying how it was going to be revolutionary or anything like that. Gamespot made a sarcastic and infamous April Fool's joke about how the Wii was going to dominate and why and ironically it turned out to be prophetic.
The thing is though that the Wii U is not the Wii and the odds are that it won't be as successful.
