I don't think you frequent amazon digital download services or steam too often. Nearly every single game will eventually be sold for $5-10 in some sale, often less than a year after release. 

And when I mean nearly any I mean the only exceptions that I can think of are Blizzard games and the Sims games.

 

With few exceptions, the only retail games you will ever find for $5 new are overshipped terrible ones such as duke nukem and brink.
