I actually liked SS better than TP. Why? It takes a lot of chances and while many of them don't work, I do respect this approach to TP's longer and more boring version of OoT. Oh, and don't get me started on all of that wolf crap in that game.
Edit: I just wanted to add that the OP is very good (even if I don't agree with a lot of it).
