If your hating a game solely cause a game is not connected then your an idiot and in a small minority. Most people rate SMG2 over SMG because of how easy it is to access levels(I am also in this statistic).I also admire Nintendo for taking risks and trying news things here and there even though it doesnt always pan out Id rather they do that than being like CoD and releasing the same game over and over and over. It sounds to me like your just being a hater because all your critiscims have nothing really to do with the gameplay and rather just the level design.Just sayin

He's not an idiot, he just isn't used to it and was expecting something more like what he played in the earlier entries, it's normal. It takes to go a step ahead and be really smart to accept an entry despite architectural differences. And that's hard.

To give you an example, I didn't play Metroid Prime much, but I did play Metroid Prime Corruption to the end. I never noticed the worlds being disconnected because I wasn't expecting any different.

To keep in mind new players will not see new games as those exposed to previous entries see them, and they're at an advantage because they can appreciate other sides of the experience we have a hard time doing because we're so traditionalist.

An example of that is "Why does my shield break?". Well, your shield breaks because it gets used (same in Diablo). Yes it's annoying, but it's more immersive. You can imagine new gamers will come to expect that in future Zeldas possibly, as upgrading and repairs makes weapons more relatable.
