We don't know that. He could be right... I don't think any of us here understands how firmware and hardware emulation works, TBH. In neogaf at least there's more capacitaded users for that, I think.

No he is wrong. The CPP simply send data through the IR. The IR itself has nothing to do with allowing for controls, any input method would work. Built in controls will send the data in the same way as if it came through IR. Just think of it like using different wires for Video input, you can use AV 3 prong, S video, HDMI, whatever have you the video and audio are still displayed.
