I thought that in Japan, the Persona series was pretty big?

It's not as big as Dragon Quest of Monster Hunter, but it's bigger than the Tales...Series, and you'd expect a new game in the series to sell around 200-300k FW, if not more.

The Persona series has been trending upwards, and the Tales series has been trending downwards. Also, ports are more successful for Persona than for Tales.

Persona 5 will have FW sales of between 200-300k, the same as the next Tales game.

Anything I missed?

You missed the fact that Xilla (the most recent Tales game) did 500k FW. Which is double your expectations of the trending series. They ended up shipping over 750k, so that's far more upwards trend than Persona (considering it outdid every Tales game since the PS1 entries).
