With all the PS3's being sold these days, the question is, what are these people playing?

Most of these games, except FIFA, are games pure Sony fans would play, games previous owners would buy. So what are the recent PS3 purchases explained by?
Are these just replacements of the old PS3 model? Is it the blu-ray??
