TheSource said: I reckon VGC is high on almost everything for hardware. The US economy is slowing down, all the consoles are very old - the 3DS / Vita are tiny yet, and with a 40 / 35 / 21 split between Wii / X360 / PS3 in the US having one big game a month just isn't going to push big hardware numbers anymore. There is a chance Microsoft's numbers will be up I suppose because NPD will have found a way to include that "$100 downpayment plus future $20 payments" thing into the numbers at Microsoft's stores (I've never seen one though?), but that proposition is still pretty expensive long term for a seven year old console. |
Hmm...I'd assuming the split is 160k X360 / 110k PS3 / 85k Wii
Year to Date Estimates (Jan-May)
2011 2012 LTD (Approx)
Wii 1.471m 0.735m 39.5m
PS3 1.411m 1.160m 21.1m
X360 1.916m 1.463m 34.1m
If you go by Jan-May last year, X360 is on pace for 5.8m, Wii is on pace for 2.5m, and PS3 is on pace for 3.5m this year...against roughly 7.3m / 4.5m / 4.5m in 2011. If you favor recency, it's more like to be like 5.5m / 3.3m / 2.2m if I had to guess.
