It was $100 extra to get a 60GB instead of a 20GB. It was $100 to get an 80GB instead of 40GB, and $100 more to upgrade to 160GB, all the while when you could buy 750GB 2.5in HDDs for the same price. Right now they charge $50 extra to upgrade from a 160GB to 320GB, when that same price - once again - is vastly more than you can ever possibly be charged for the same thing. And have you ever heard of external enclosures? They're fantastically magical devices that turn any internal harddrive into external - and many people already have one or can at least purchase one for less than $10! |
It $100 difference between the 20GB and 60GB was not just due to the HDD space, but also for the built in WiFi, Chrome fnishing and the built in multi-memory card reader.
The 80GB at the time had backwards compatibility with PS2 titles while the 40GB did not. The 80GB also had 4 USB slots while the 40GB had 2.
Now the difference between the 160GB and 320GB is the memory.
