So in that trailer you could see about 2 new moves and 3 DLC weapons.
Not nearly enough to save that game.

The game actually now has 6 weapon types and 3 ninpo. Even with DLC the 360/PS3 versions only had 3 weapons and 1 ninpo in single player (iirc Dragon Sword, Falcon's talons and Eclipse Scythe)

It also has new enemies, new areas and massively importantly dismemberment is back. Which it will be interesting to see if it impacts gameplay again.

Not only this but perhaps most importantly the rpg lite elements are back. You earn karma again and can upgrade weapons, ninpo and health. Something that was sorely missing from the original.

So sounds like it will be quite a large improvement. Looking at it NG3 is at 58 on Metacritic. Those changes could most likely bring it up to a 70 for Wii U.

Also depressingly anyone who knows Team Ninja won't be surprised in the slightest that they are screwing fans over by releasing an improved version and seemingly not offering the improvements as DLC/a patch.

Ninja Gaiden comes out on Xbox, hooray great! Black comes out and it's Dlc hooray fantastic!
TN:Okay now we are making a remake with improvements on PS3
Fans:.... so will the Xbox 360 get a version since the franchise started on xbox?
TN:No you will buy a PS3 for it.
TN:Okay now we are making Ninja Gaiden 2 and it's for 360
Fans:.....oh well I mean I already bought a PS3 for Sigma but err yea okay back to 360 we go!
Tn: You bought it? Okay cool. So we are releasing a Sigma 2 for PS3! With co-op, new bosses jiggling boobs etc
Fans: Oh great but I mean that's totally stuff that could be Dlc right?
Tn: Most of it yes but we aren't releasing it.
Fans: Will there be a 360 version?
Tn: No.
Fans: Okay well I bought the Sigma 2 version and there's lots of improvements but also some things got worse. So there is no definitive version of 2?
TN: That's correct, no best version! If you want the best of both worlds then buy NG2 and Sigma 2!

I have very rapidly learned that buying Ninja Gaiden at launch seems to be a huge mistake as you can count on there being a better version coming soon.

70 might be a bit of a stretch, but not impossible.
Still enough annoyances to get rid of (camera, countless waves of spawning enemies, the parts where your arm is possesed and you can only move very slowly, the whole story, bland levels and better boss fights)

If anyone is going to buy the WiiU version, make sure to turn the QTEs off in the settings. They're atrocious and killed me more often than all fights combined.
