what you explain is a good point for some "games". even when i opened the beyond thread i don't really see a reason to buy that for 60 bucks just to push some buttons and listen to a story. because i can buy a book with a great story or watch more than one movie for the same price which looks even better than beyond graphics. because this looks really real then and it seems like beyond developers try exactly this, to look exactly like a movie with real actors. i wonder why they don't make a movie instead of a game with worse graphics to simulate a movie.
but there are games which are still real games and have a good story. not many but as example i believe the last of us will be good for both even if it will be a little bit too linear and he will kill the enemies from close range just with a button click and the whole animation will be scripted then (not sure about that but the fight with the guy on the ground didn't look like you could control it and if it is a new kind of controls i'm really looking forward to play with these controls).
