Does that make this a fantastic story then?

Yes, it does. This was the first game in a long time that got an emotional response out of me with the murder of Fiora. That was a great build-up for a huge game.

But admittedly, the final hours of the game are disappointing. It was predictable that there would be plot twists (Egil wouldn't be the final evil in the game) and at the end they became almost laughable. This whole scientists thing was just a plot twist for the sake of a plot twist.

Overall, the story was never as good as in the beginning of the game, but still always good enough until the Mechonis Core. The game itself more than made up for a story that ultimately got weaker over time.

I don't think that the ending is the weakest part of the game. I enjoyed the plot twists in Mechonis Core with Dickson, and what happened to the High Entia, and the scenes in the Heart were rather emotional. Even the ending scenes, even if 'out-there', were executed well.

The weakest part of the story was easily from Satorl Marsh to Eryth Sea. THAT had no synergy to the rest of the plot and was more filler, very good filler, admittadly. But the best parts are the start, up to Satorl Marsh, Alcamoth and Eryth Sea, and Mechonis.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
