Nope.

A game should not be shipped or 'Gold' until its fully ready. Patches and day 1 DLC is just stupid and a bad practice.

DLC should be purely extra content that is intended to provide longer value to playing the game for incremental costs. Not something they originally wanted in game and to meet a street date pushed off and decided to sell later for more.

Patches shouldn't exist except for bugs simply not realized at all. See Nintendo for how to do this one.

While that is an ideal mentality, there is always "more" that can be done with a product. I would rather the game come out than be delayed and delayed as developers think of new content to add. DLC has its place when done properly.

Also, you actually didn't contradict my point, if I am reading your post correctly. You may dislike that sort of DLC, but it does have a distinct difference.

Also, Nintendo has had a few major game-breaking bugs in their recent franchises (Twilight Princess?) so they're not exempt from this. Yes they do a fantastic job of finishing their products before releasing them, but there's always more they could add or tweak along the way after the product is released.
