If being an harcore gamer means remaining stuck to a 1996 controller design for 20+ years and be proud of it than no, the WiiU controller is not meant for hardcore gamers.

I couldnt have said it better myself. Why are some video gamers so opposed to evolving?

Imagine if they refused to try dual analogs when they first came out.

Analog stick(s) actually did face some opposition when they were introduced to game consoles.

That's true, because analog sticks were also around for YEARS before N64 and PS1 (see Atari 5200 or the numerous trackball setups in arcades)... the thing is they weren't practical for 99% of the games at the time, which is why for home console controllers they were impractical.  Once companies made the jump from 2D to 3D, analog sticks became a necessity for true 3D gaming... imagine playing Mario 64 or Goldeneye on a D-pad.

As for uno's comment, nobody was opposed to dual analogs because they MADE SENSE, and the current gaming environment at the time demanded such a setup.  What doesn't make sense is forcing everyone into a control scheme (in this case the Wiimote) that is counter-intuitive for 95% of games out there that are not specifically designed around it.  This is why the Wii U is designed more like a traditional controller.  What would you fanboys prefer?  A touch screen only pad mated to a Wiimote or something?!? lol!

THIS, ill add, has anyone tried to play a fighting game with just the Wiimote?? Im talking a traditional fighter with multi-button layout. Its unplayable. Ive tried and had to get the CC. I kinda like the way SOny and MS made it, their things are completly optional. Thats the way it should have been IMHO
