Will the Wii U controller be for hardcore gamers?

The only thing the so called 'hardcore' gamer needs is precision and response (no lag). I see no reason why the WiiU controller can't provide that.
And holding it for hours at a time shouldn't hurt of course.

I hope the screen can be dimmed sufficiently not to be a nuisance when playing in a dark room.
