2009 - Dragon Quest 5 (DS) with Chrono Trigger (DS) a close second. Favourite original game was Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3)
2008 - Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations (DS)
2007 - Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
2006 - Xenosaga Episode 3 (PS2) tied with Dragon Quest 8 (PS2) and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney (DS) and Wii Sports (Wii)
2005 - Fire Emblem SS (GBA) tied with FF4 Advance (GBA)
2004 - Grand Theft Auto Vice City (PS2)
2003 - Xenosaga Episode 1 (PS2)
2002 - Suikoden 3 (PS2) tied with Final Fantasy X (PS2)
2001 - Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast)
A lot of the games in the first half of the decade were imports, so some of the years might be off.
While Xenosaga Episode 1 was my least favourite of the trilogy, I can't really remember any other new games from 2003, the early PS2 era
