Is Assassin's Creed II boring or does it just start off slow?

This is surprising. How can anyone enjoy the combat? All you're doing is pressing the 'counter' button the whole time. Maybe it becomes more deep later on?

And no it doesn't get any deeper, you get more weapons as if the game isn't easy enough as is, but you can even kill bosses the same way, no awesome boss fights for you!! Oh and the endings are cliffhangers, so if you grind yourself through the game just to see the ending you will be terribly disappointed and you even might end up hurting someone.

The ending is basically "if you actually wanna know what is going on, buy the next game"
