Was 3D a bad decision for the 3DS?

Here's the deal. The stereoscopic 3D is a nice little extra on the 3DS. Nintendo's big mistake was naming it the 3DS since it kind of paints them into a corner because the name 3DS suggests that every game coming out for it will have the 3D and that the 3D is the only thing the distinguishes the 3DS from a normal DS. Naming the handheld after a feature was not a good idea. The Wii isn't called the Motion Controlled Fun Machine since that would limit it's options.
