As for Transformers 2, Troll_Whisperer summed  it up well, the first one was shit also.

THe first one was bad....but it was one of those movies that are forgiveable because it's a "Summer Blockbuster." The second one took basically everything that was bad about the first one and multiplied it by 10.

I agree with the above bolded sentence, 100%

I am a huge Transformers fan (generation 1) and I'm very critical of any missteps toward the franchise, but I actually really enjoyed the first movie.  Don't get me wrong; it was far from perfect, but when you consider how bad it could have been and the fact that it was a Michael Bay movie, I thought it turned out very good considering it was the first attempt at making a live-action Transformers movie.  There was a lot that needed to go (mainly much of the dialogue), but there were several parts that truly made me feel like a little kid again.  The entire base attack at the beginning, the part where the Autobots all transform in front of Sam, the street battle at the end, etc.  If they had just focused on all of the good things and trimmed off the crap (such as Prime's "Sorry, my bad" line), it could have been the start of a really great trilogy of movies.

Instead, like Axum said, they took what was bad, made it even worse, and made an entire movie out of it for the sequel.  Truly pathetic, IMO, and so bad that I still haven't even seen the third one yet.
