How about making games that appeal to the people that bought the Wii AND games that appeal to the core gamer? Why not go after both groups of people instead of abandoning the massive group that bought your last system? But what do I know? I'm just some 39 year loser that posts in a video game forum.

Unpossible.

Unfortunately I think that this is exactly how Nintendo looks at things.  They seem to concentrate on going after either the casual or the core and never both at the same time.  It's unfortunate since I think that if they try to go after JUST the core gamer like they did with the Gamecube that we know how that will probably wind up.  By the time that they do try to get the "expanded market" back, they will have gone on to something else.

Thankfully I am not a Nintendo stockholder.  If I were, I'd be worried about now.

I am a Nintendo Stock Holder and I have been waiting to finally sell it for months now!

You might as well hold your stock for now. Probably for the next few years. Selling now is simply not very smart investing (selling stocks when they're low unless the company is some kind of imminent danger of bankruptcy or something, which Nintendo obviously is not). There's a reason why they say "sell high, buy low", not the reverse, lol.
