I agree that it's better than Micaiah's (but so's anything really), but this isn't a new addition to the series.

I mean, Lyn, Mist, Slyvia and Tethys, to name a few, have all had equally suspicious art design as Elincia's, and Sonia is probably worse. You ignore the fact she's a Queen (which she isn't in this game), and you'll see her armour is not too far away from that of your standard pegasus knight.

But yeah. It does seem to be a worrying trend that the lades are showing more flesh in these games. Probably to appeal more to the Japanese, after all...

I went to serenesforest.net and it doesn't look like it's guaranteed that the new Micaiah is an official artwork. Other artworks (all the better ones) are credited to artists that worked on video games, so I am really not sure if the Micaiah picture is the real deal or merely a placerholder for the time being.

As for the other characters you mentioned, I never had an issue with Lyn's design and even less so with Mist's. Sylvia and Tethys are dancers, not warriors or priests, so there's nothing odd about them showing more skin. Sonia was an evil bitch, so her design fits as well.

But, the fact is, there's no other design for Micaiah, and the DLC (apparantly) has that...horrid face in. It's the nceck and legs that get me. The chest area looks fake, but that's fine. People like that. The artist just looks incapable.

And your defencs of the other characters are correct. That's my point. There's been character wearing less-than-fully protective armour, but there's been reasons. I'd imagine there's a reason for Elincia. We just don't know what.

Remember, this looks almost standard fare for pegasus knights in this game, and past FE's. If she is just a pegasus knight, then I see no huge issue with the design. It's not like she's revealing much, anyway. The armour protects what needs to be protected IMO. The more I look at it, the more I think it looks elegant.
