You know what? If Nintendo needed to scrap high-end this gen so as to become #1 on a manufacturer basis and kick ass gen 8, then bring it on.

If this is indeed how it ends up playing out, then once again we are in agreement. Nintendo will have stockpiled loads of cash from their earnings this gen while simultaniously proving to the industry that they can't be ignored.

It's just that I'm worried about what will happen if that scenario doesn't play out. Just look at Sony between PS2 and PS3.. In this case Nintendo will have effectively let the boat sail. That's what makes me mad, if in retrospect it is apparent they let a good thing go.

I would think they did. It's kinda sad, because we've been wanting it for so long (for Nintendo to take back their rightful reigns), but I can tell you, had they had a minimal amount of multi-platform support, it would have been a much different tale to be told, and one of slave to king. The success is there, but it is bitter-sweet, and you can be certain that the ennemies will only be smarter from this point forward.

Nintendo is in a good position, but now so are their rivals. That's how I see it at least.

However, if Nintendo achieves 90M sales this gen with WiiU, I will consider it a full victory given the odds (a Sony back from the mud and a stronger than ever Microsoft). It will be tough but I believe in them, I can see it happen.
