Is your point that you would rather the resources that go into 3D Mario games go into other non-Mario projects?

The point is that Super Mario Bros. spawns other awesome games while 3D Mario spawns virtually nothing.

Is that a good reason to not make a franchise anymore? I don't see Uncharted, God of War, Halo, Metroid, Super Smash Brothers, Zelda, etc. spawning any copy series. In the same light, the only "copy" franchise I can even think of for 2D mario games is the new Rayman game.

Can you be more specific in what you mean?
