Predicition: PS3 will outsell Wii by the end of this console generation

Interesting thread. PS3 at $/€199 will shake the gaming industry. Not only in the developped countries but finally the PS3 is getting atractive to developping countries. The way I see it will be like:

2012 total sales

PS3: 15 million(pricecut this year)

Wii: 5 million

By January 2013:

PS3: 76-77 million

Wii: 100 million, it will stop selling, I predict 1 million for the entire year of 2013

By January 2014

PS3: 90 million

Wii: 101-102 million

By January 2015

98 milion

Wii: 102 million

By January 2016:

PS3: 103-104 million

Wii: 102 million

So you're predicting a 65% decrease YoY for Wii this year, then 80% the year after, then 'stop selling'? But the PS3 will magically (somehow) be up YoY this year, then only down 8% the year after? 

The Wii won't stop selling. No way will it stop at 102mil. Heck, even the Gamecube sold over 1mil after the Wii launched...

in short, Wii will have to be discontinued in 2014 for PS3 to pass it in the furture.

You're wrong, though. Wii would have to be discontinued this year or next for the PS3 to pass it. Even if it stopped selling now it'd be close...
