I think a lot of people like Nintendo because they are simple. Most of their games are really easy to pick up and understand, but still fun as hell. What 10 yr old kid is going to understand or care enough to get bonus material?
If Nintendo added DLC or bonus content, or whatever, it should be limited to their hardcore games, and even then, only things the fans request. Don't add story missions, but maybe make events for Smash Bros for bonus characters, and charge people who missed the event if they want the character.
As for collector editions, NOE does it, look at The Last Story. I think CE's should exist, but only for the truely hardcore titles which don't have high volume.
