The ps4 will be leaps and bounds ahead of this generation, sony doesn't do that, VITA is an example of that, everyone expected vita to be barely more powerful than psp, and more gimmicky than any other device they've released to compete with 3DS, well guess what, it's almost as powerful as the PS3...... and it's being sold for a profit

Vita will be sold at a loss for 3 yrs

No where does it say that the vita is selling at a loss , it says they will make a profit on it in 3 years , So it could well mean they hope to get set up costs back by then , obviously R&D for the vita was nothing like what happened with the PS3 and blu-ray - cell adoption , so it wouldn't be surprising if they at least break even or make a profit and the make a profit  part , is most certainly what they do  on the memory card side.

Yeah I'd have to agree with that too, suggested production cost was $160 for Vita. That leaves enough wiggle room for some profit. The author misinterpreted the interview he based his article on, or purposevly spun it. Here's the quote:

"aim to turn a profit withint three years in the body of the Vita sale."

By "body" he means in total. They predict to sell enough Vita's in 3 years to make more money than it cost to create it. Not too bad over a 5 to 7 year life cycle.

They are selling it at a loss!

are you aware your posting links that are all saying the same thing right

how can they make profit on something in less than 3 years if they've been selling it at a loss for 3 years....that makes NO sense at all.
