The Wii U version of the game can save the series IF
1. They include the various things like Weapons DLC for free on the disc
2. They fix technical issues like the camera and framerate
3. The game is presented with 8th gen graphics
4. There are not too many other hardcore games at the Wii U's launch
5. The entire trilogy comes on the disc
So, in short, the series is probably dead.
