I would say no. The Wii did its job and brought in an immense, untapped gaming market. Even as a console, it brought many gems and hard hitting titles. Skyward Sword, Just Dance, SMBB, NSMB, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and many more.
Personally, I think the Wii did a fantastic job with it's target audience, despite all the hard core fans whining from time to time. It build a huge base with the kids and their parents and the Wii-U is supposed to pick up on that and become a more core gaming console, as those kids will have grown since it's original launch. In fact, I am going to purchase a Wii very very soon so I can play Xenoblade and TLS and I'm a bit of a Sony fanboy. I already bought Xenoblade, I'm just waiting on my bonus check from work this may to purchase it brand new.
Overall, the Wii was not a disappointment..
