To be honest, no matter how powerfull the Wii U turns out to be, the gap between it and PS4/Next Xbox will still be much smaller than the current one between Wii and PS3/Xbox 360. The goal here for Nintendo will be to win back 3rd party support. So as long as it is powerfull enough for developers to be able to release their games simultaneously on all three platforms without making sacrifices to gameplay, than Wii U is going to be fine.
