Ok let's throw out all this shit about fanboyism and what not and really get down to this. I'm asking this to the hardcore Nintendo fans and the non Nintendo fans, has the Wii not become one of the biggest disappointments of gaming?

When the Wii released it was a hit, everyone loved it and it sold like crazy. But something happened, and sales significantly dropped more then any leading console has ever done in gaming. What's happened? A few things actually. Nintendo got to over confident with the Wii usually once the company finds out there console is the highest selling this gen they can just sit back and let the money roll in for the next 4 or 5 years. Sure this would of been fine any other gen, usually when the leader is determined developers just flock to the console but Sony and Microsoft made that FAR from easy, taking many huge games from it.

In the end the ignorance of the Wiis creators and lack of 3rd party support turned the Wii into something a leading gaming console has never been, a gimick (I think Nintendo's forgotten what a leading console is suppose to be). Not gonna say the Wii was entirely useless though, it has brought a huge range of people into the gaming market, ie the gamers that were never gamers (old people) and a lot of young children. Which is great the more people into gaming the better for the industry. But by the time Nintendo began to compete it was too late, Sony and Microsoft had way to much going for them.

So now a 3rd place console, and a console that is 1 year older the Wii is now outselling the leader for the gen, something that's never happened before. It's kind of embarrasing for Nintendo, they let to much go to there head and completely ignored the competition which was the cause of there downfall. Hopefully they make a big improvement on the Wii-U.
