This thread takes me back. Back to a time where many of you who are saying; "sims are boring, I don't want Nintendo to do this." were telling people who said; "motion controls and casual games are stupid, I don't want Nintendo to make them." that they were being childish and elitist. I know that I'm one of the biggest advocates against motion controls and touch controls so maybe it sounds dumb coming from me, but my gripe lies with trying to make the whole industry into a mishmash of flailing about and rubbing your fingers on unresponsive pads that would hinder depth of controls, I have never said outright that "I don't want anyone to be able to enjoy motion or touch games", that would be, well, childish and elitist.

Just think about that for a second. Would it kill you if Nintendo released a racing "sim" on their console? Aren't you guys always talking about how much money Nintendo have? Surely, they can afford to publish one game out of the usual group?

I'm 28 this year. I'm not some dumb kid that's only ever played games on one brand of console like you get infesting places like this. Outside of some as yet unforeseen new genre, I've tried games in every genre in existence on consoles from pretty much every manufacturer around now or in the past (I never played a Neo Geo game, for shame). I'm old enough to know what I like, and what I don't like, and I know that there's very little certain genres can do to change my mind on this as they are mostly set in their ways. Racing sims are one of those that are unlikely to ever sway me, and if that makes me elitist, then so be it.

You'll notice though that I don't say that racing sims are bad for the industry as a whole, nor do I suggest that racing sims will be the death of traditional gaming, which are just two examples of many critiques often levelled at motion controls. I just don't like them, I don't try and tell other people not to like them, or that they are doing something bad by liking them, and that is the crucial difference.

I also happen to be 28 years old and I also know what I like and dislike. My issue was never with "I don't like racing sims." Of course not everyone does and that's fine. My issue was with "I don't like racing sims so Nintendo are wasting their time when they're making something I don't enjoy." That's elitist, at the very least.

Your distaste for racing sims does not make you elitist, in fact; all the years I've seen you post here the thought has never crossed my mind. Take my gripes with Move and Kinect for example; I have nothing personal against the products themselves, nor do I throw tantrums because some might enjoy using them, my displeasure is derived from the fact that they have offered very little that matters to the gaming world abd have focused mostly on mindless fare. The same thing annoys me with the Wii-mote, the controller itself is nothing short if brilliant but there are way too few who are utilizing the potential this thing has, using mostly waggle functions and adding annoying sounds to the speakers.

I understand perfectly well that there is room for two markets, or perhaps even more, and everyone should be free to enjoy the games they want. Which brings me back to the question; how can people say that Nintendo are wasting their time with this because they don't like it? Or is it that this type of game won't sell on a Nintendo console (which would be kind of admitting that hardcore 3rd party games don't sell)? Or is it horrible that Nintendo are actually reading the enthusiast market rather than just scout out across the blue ocean that netted them so much money this gen? A lot of Nintendo fans in here seem very, very offended at the idea that Nintendo might actually make a decision based on the demands of the market and developers and not just do cooky, original things all the time. There's a time and place for everything and I think its time that Nintendo showed that they can conform to a market (don't tell me the N64 and Gamecube showed that, publisher fees were atrocious and the chose silly formats out of spite) and show 3rd parties that their platform is able to move software beyond Just Dance and anything labelled "Nintendo", and this is what they are doing with this title. If anything, Nintendo fans should welcome the initiative and effort rather than show utter disdain based on personal preference and attitude.

This is a good move by them, in my opinion, this and actually building a console which can recieve proper ports from consoles of the same generation. It shows that they are thinking are trying to solve the problems they've had over the 7th generation, sticking to the old ways out of defiance won't get them anywhere and the same goes for their fans.
