Right now I'm 176 lbs, which for my height is healthy.
Last year at this time I was 246 lbs. I decided to get healthy so I changed my eating habits and got active. I started exercising almost every day and I keep a log of everything I eat. It's actually been quite easy and I haven't felt like I've given anything up.
I still eat all my favorite foods I just count the calories. I bake my own corn chips so I can eat chips and salsa. I modify recipes to eliminate fat and extra calories. I've become a much better cook thanks to cooking and baking from scratch. I don't consider it a diet, it was a lifestyle choice I made that I plan to continue for the rest of my life.
Just to put it in perspective, last weekend I ran a 8:42 minute mile. Runners might not find that impressive, but in high school I couldn't even run half a mile, so I'm actually in better shape today than in high school. I plan to lose 10-15 more lbs before switching to maintenance and plan to shave as much time off my mile as possible.
