Red Mages suck as well. A useless allrounder class that isn't good at anything.

I don't know. I beat FF1 with just that guy by himself. It turns out that he can learn all the support abilities of both White and Black mages that power up melee classes and use them on himself, making him the best solo character. He's easier than 4 white mages or a monk/blackbelt.
