Yeah I thought the episode was lacking that big "holy shit" moment at the end considering it's a season finale. It seems like it catered more towards fans of the books by revealing things that said fans would recognize. So I guess for you guys it had that oh shit factor a little more. All that said, I still think it was an excellent episode. I like how Rick stepped up at the end and basically told all the chattering bitches to shut the fuck up. Herchel actually seemed like he had an expression of admiration when Rick was ranting. It was definitely good stuff. I totally forgot about that dude at the cdc whispering to him at the end of the first season and it's cool how they tied that in... nice and neat. That hooded black chick rocking the katana was sick looking with her little amputated chain gang. I think that a samurai sword would be an excellent weapon to weild in their world. I can't wait to see how much of a badass she is or at least learn how the hell she's got those two walkers trained like that. When Andrea was doing the cliched helpless woman floundering around on all fours trying to escape, horror movie shuffle, I thought for sure it was going to Merle that saved her ass. I've also been very patient with Rick's wife but she annoyed the piss out of me tonight. She's got some balls reacting the way she did after Rick told her about Shane. I mean a few episodes ago she was in Rick's ear basically telling to take Shane out. The only thing I can understand is if she was pissed about Carl being the one who killed zombie Shane because that would be consistent with the way she's viewed Carl in the zombie world. She's hung up on him growing up "normal" and not turning into this heartless, cold person that he will inevitably be. That's the only way I give her a pass for acting mad after Rick told her. So now the long wait. |
I would attempt to hold off on getting the comics. I got them when the hype for the first season was somewhat beggining, and I somewhat regret it. They spoiled a few, but not all of the episodes. The comics are great though, I would definitely suggest eventually getting them. Maybe once the tv show eventually gets canned, or they spinoff the story to something completely different than the comics, which you will be able to find out about by the reaction from angry comic fans.
About the actual episode. I actually think its somewhat sad that Rick stood up the way he did. While originally his plan for this world was to somehow try to find some happiness in it, now it seems like he will be trying to survive only for suvivals sake, and that makes survival all the less meaningfull.
As for Lori, I'm assuming she still probably had some feelings for Shane. She was probably also pissed that RIck supported training Carl to shoot a gun, which eventually led to him shooting Shane. She is angry that Rick is at least somewhat responsible for Carl becoming a disobedient little runt, who seems to be bloodthirsy and has completely lost his "innocience." Thats the way I see it at least.
