That will certainly get me in trouble if a female walks up and sees it on my computer screen. That is why if there is a thread marked NSFW, I don't open it up.

I do admit, while I like seeing people's avatars/sigs, Rol's solution with adding an option to hid avatars is pretty good. That combined with moderation for obvious over the top NSFW avatars would be sufficient.

ok i get it, on your working place it's a problem if people could maybe think that you like to see pics of bikini girls or half naked men because there are few small pics of those people on the screen when they run behind you and even when this is something every person on this planet likes.

something i now from now on: working in a church (can't believe you work somewhere else) isn't something for me...
