Here's a simpler solution to satisfy the minority who doesn't want to have NSFW avatars displayed (or rather what they perceive to be NSFW): Implement an option to not show avatars, just like there is already one for signatures. That is all.

As difficult as it is to trust Australians, I think he has a point.
