Those GCN numbers turned out to be unrealistically conservative; Factor 5 managed to get 20 million polygons/sec out of it with Rogue Squadron 3, while also running a host of fancy effects. From this we can conclude that the Wii should be able to do 30 million with bumpmapping and such.

I actually disagree. Nintendo are generally not that great at pushing their own hardware. Most of the best looking games on their consoles are made by other developers.
