Nintendo already has an achievement system called stars and coins. Collect enough of them in one of their games and you unlock hidden levels, items, etc..

This must be for the 3DS cause I know it's not on the Wii.  Can you give me an example of how this system works, meaning, do you find a star or coin in the game or do you have to do something to earn the star and coin?  Thanks!

NSMB Wii get coins and unlock levels.  MK Wii get stars to unlock more classes, karts, characters, etc..  Basically, what they have been doing for awhile in most if not all their games.

Yeah but most ps360 games have both unlockable collection items on top of acheivements etc.

My point is who gives a shit about a trophy except some shallow person?  I know they are addicting like crack but that is when you have to step back and realize you are addicted to shit.  If anything I want the game to reward me with unlockables not unlock a stupid trophy for "accomplishing" something in the game.  Sorry, I think they are pointless (I know they aren't to most but to me they are).

Let me just go on a rant here.  You know what??  I believe Nintendo has already topped Microsoft and Sony with trophies / achievements..  You want to know why?  Smash Bros trophies...  Yes, these are actually 100 times better than a platinum, gold or whatever the fuck.  You want to know why?  Cause they actually provide a short history lesson about the character, game, etc for each trophy.  That to me is way better and actually provides something you can learn.  OMG!!! Learn video game history from an in-game video game trophy... NO FUCKIN WAY!!!  Now, you tell me what is better.  Staring at a stupid color/point total or looking a detailed trophy with information about it.
