One would think Nintendo would have been the first one to implement some kind of achievement system seeing as it kind of takes gaming back to the Nintendo days. Its like you spending hours on a NES game trying to beat the final boss and then do it after an all-night session while your friends are still struggling. Then you can go and rub it in their faces for being the MAN.

Since the games nowadays are nowhere as difficult due to a huge influx of casual gamers who would otherwise not even play the game if it involves too much investment of time, achievements are a way developers can put in these crazy challenges for those hardcore gamers who still care deeply for gaming. Plus you have an actual record of the achievement for the world to see. Achievements are the closest thing to "beating" a game nowadays imo. Hence I imagine nintendo should really incorporate something that takes gaming back to the old days, you know rewarding the more dedicated gamer for their accomplishments.
