I visited Durham with my "Cultural Studies" class and none of us could understand a word that our taxi driver was saying when he drove us from Newcastle Airport to Durham University.
On another day I went to a local Sainsbury's and also had a hard time understanding what the clerk was trying to tell me. (he asked if I'd like to have a bag).
Other than that it was not hard at all. Sure helps that there are a lot of students from all round the UK in Durham.
I saw a LOT of sheep, extremely green grass and trimmed lawn everywhere I looked.
We also only had one day of rain in 7 days, but it was extremely windy at all times.
