As long as ninty could make a shop that offers something at least similar to what Apple does they should be fine in that regard, PSN/Live have been doing alright, dont see why Ninty cant get their head out of their asses in that regard

Straightforward actually. Though the home consoles can't easily be played on the go by any common means, the mobile offerings can. Facebook certainly can being PC compatible.

Nintendo needs to bring added value, either by unique hardware offerings (dual screen, controller to TV interaction), or by truly differentiatingly high quality SW content.

And that's pretty much exactly what Iwata said. Hence the legitimacy of a premium for such offerings.
