Yeah. From the shots and the scaler options available, it does seem image based upscaling, not re-rendering. It's a good software scaler, that's for sure - probably better than the 360's hardware scaler. But it does not look like re-rendering.
So, all that remains is whether this only applies for Emotion Engine PS3s, or software emulation PS3s. I don't wanna flame, but there's really no excuse for this to happen in software emulation - re-rendering is a nice side effect of software emulation, unless you purposely don't want it looking better on those PS3s. But the way to go then would be to always use software emulation for supported games, even in Emotion Engine PS3s.
Sieanr, you seem to be from the UK, when you post your pics could you tell us if you have a software emulation PS3? Thanks!
