Slimebeast said: Good sales. Im a bit surpised that only 25% of sales were digital since they say that the majority of PC sales nowadays are digital downloads. |
The Witcher 2 is an exeption as they put a lot of effort into adding extra value to the retail versions with even the standard priced edition coming with a couple coins, paper craft, audio CD, making of, physical game guide and a map all in a solid box. and the fact that the game is 16+GB to download probably also turned some people to the physical copies. Also the limited edition sold out instantly as and the hardcore fans mostly prefer having something to put on their shelf. And also as has been said most of the sales were in Euroupe where retail PC games are still big, the USA is where more than 50% of PC game sales are digital the rest of the world is slightly less.
So basically the retail editions of The Witcher 2 were a bit special and hardcore fans like the box.

This is true. I got The Witcher Enhanced Edition as a birthday present a couple of years back and that thing is a real beauty. They know how to make a handsome package for consumers as far as physical copies go.
PS: Isn't the download around 12GB though? I seem to remember that. Still takes a long time unless you have a decent connection.
