He wasn't. He was one of the writers on Mass Effect and Star Wars: TOR on top of writing the first three Mass Effect novels.
Although I didn't think the storyline in Dragon Age 2 was particular bad, just a different and more personal story rather than an epic and ultimately generic odyssey. A lot of other aspects in the game unfortunately were very poorly handled.
