Slimebeast said: Panasonic was hot for electronic products in the 90's but since that they only been famous for their high quality plasma TV:s. I planned to buy a Panasonic plasma TV for a while but since then LEDs have catched up and are very aweomse so most consumers including me will buy a Samsung LED. |
Plasmas over LCD/LED ANYDAY, Plasmas are much much better then LED and LCD
|
Only if you like to waist electricty five years from now no electric company is going to make plasma TV's anymore.
|
Funny, I just remembered when LCD became affordable around 2005/2006 they were saying the exact same thing, Plasma is still around. Every other display technology is inferior to Plasma. The viewing angles, the colors, the contrast, the blacks, the refresh rate, the 3D is much better on Plasma.
The only technology that seems to rival Plasma seems to be OLED, but its only started to make an appearance and still too expensive.
|
Electric companies that stopped making plasma tv's outnumber the electric companies that are still making plasmas once Samsung and LG will stop making them which will be pretty soon its RIP for plasma. Also around 2005/2006 was the last time all major electronic companies still made plasma tv's. Since then Sony, Hitachi, Philips, Vizio, RCA, NEC, and Pioneer have stopped making plasma tv's. Also not everyone needs or has room for a 40+inch tv for them LCD/LED and pretty soon OLED is the only choice.
|
For sure bro, Plasmas are doing as good as they did 5 years ago, Panasonic has more then 80 billion dollars of turnover just selling plasmas. Samsung makes plasmas, Sharp, Toshiba makes plasmas. Philips makes Plasmas, LG makes plasmas, oh yeah... did I say Hitachi still makes Plasmas too? Never heard of Vizio and RCA tho.
I plan on upgrading my Samsung plasma to a VT50 Panasonic plasma, probably the best tvs ever made after those Kuro's.

What are you talking about?
Toshiba, Philips, Hitachi and Sony all stopped making plasmas. Just like Pioneer, Fujitsu and NEC.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_display#cite_note-55
And the LCD market is 10 times larger than the Plasma market

What is wrong with you that you always have to make people think the stuff you prefer is somehow superior and super succesful? Stop spreading bullshit.
|
When did I make people think the stuff I prefer is superior and succesful? You challenge the fact that Plasmas have better contrast, black level, refresh rate and viewing angle? Challenging the fact that 3D is better on Plasma then LCD/LED because its not affected by image ghosting/crosstalk? Who are you anyways? LEDs are better at energy consumption, they're great tv's if you can afford them.
|
i did never understand this viewing angle point. all magazines talk about that and i never had a problem with this and i own my 6th flat tv now which 4 of them were lcd's. i can watch from a wide angle on my actual led and the image stays almost perfect. only if i watch from an angle which no one would do the imgae starts to be too milky but yeah why the hell should i do that?
and talking about crosstalk for example it depends which technology you use for 3d. the passive led's don't have this problem for example like the active ones have. ok they have a lower res in 3d then but mine has passive 3d and i really have no prob with the lower resolution.
and for me, after owning 2 plasmas (my last one before my actual tv was one and i stilll have it in my bedroom) i know for me i don't need plasma anymore. i like plasma more for normal tv but for gaming for example i like my led much more. the colors are more realistic on plasma so i liked it for faces in tv-shows and so on but for gaming i like the led colors much more and for movies it depends. unrealistic movies in fantasy worlds or cgi movies and i prefer led, a movie like shawshank redemption and i prefer plasma and since i don't use my tv only in a dark room because i'm not a zombie, plasma sucks compared to led's in rooms not as dark as the night. all together i prefer led now if it doesn't have too much clouding/banding which can be still a big problem for led's bu it really depends from tv to tv and if one model has it i just replace it for free within two weeks which isn't a problem at least where i live
(this is all my opinion and if someone likes this or that more on this or that tv i can live with it)
