Quite simple, he held a press conference to announce the donation as shown in the original post. And no he couldn't quite easily keep all of his money, if he didn't donate to charities then he would pay it in taxes.

Essentially, he donates in place of taxes, and holds press conferences so people like you will praise him. If he would donate anonymously, it would be a completely different story.

do you understand that the trust and bill gates are not the same...? and even if this was his own money (which it isnt) why is giving it to charity worse than paying tax...? you have a very skewed view on this.  Its clear you dont like Bill, probably based on a dislike for MS and some loyalty to another company so you have a fixed stance and thats that.

Pointless talking to you about this though as you seem incapable of grasping the very basic facts at the root of your misunderstanding. 

Whether he is donating directly or donating indirectly to a Trust is completely irrelevant; and unless you can somehow prove he isn't the one making the press conferences (as shown in the picture); then there is nothing wrong with my post and nothing in your response is relevant.

The irony of your freak out response is that if you are implying that Bill Gates didn't actually donate any money, then that only serves to strengthen my point that he is doing this out of vanity.

For the record, I have absolutely nothing against donation of money, I think it is wonderful. I think making it public for vanity is what is dirty. Many people donate money and pay taxes anonymously.
