As I study the DS sales at the games database and weekly sales as well, I've come to affectionately call a group of seven DS games "The DS 7"

These seven games meet two basic criteria. First off, they all have sold over 8 million copies (the lowest game will hit 9 million in a few months), and secondly they are all still selling very well after more than a year (the most recent game is 69 weeks old and was the 11th top selling game world wide last week).

These games are, in order of Sales

1. Nintendogs - 16,75 million after 144 weeks. The game sold 39,444 last week.

2. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - 13,33 million after 69 weeks. The game sold 38,614 last week.

3. New Super Mario Brothers - 12,823 million after 88 weeks. The game sold 47,174 last week.

4. Brain Training - 11,05 million after 140 weeks. The game sold 65,928 last week.

5. More Brain Training - 9,21 million after 108 weeks. The game sold 83,439 last week.

6. Mario Kart DS - 9,08 million after 114 weeks. The game sold 19,905 last week.

7. Animal Crossing: Wild World - 8,7 million after 113 weeks. The game sold 19,415 last week.

Now there are other games that have shown amazing feats of sales and legs, but I don't consider them part of this elite group. For instance;

Super Mario 64 DS has sold 5,48 million in 165 weeks with 11,027 last week. Amazing legs, but it's still over 3 million behind the lowest of our coveted 7.

So here's my question. What other games on the DS (either released or on the way) might one day reach that combination of explosive sales and stilt like legs? Mario Party DS? Phantom Hourglass? What might go all the way?

Discuss.
