Yep! I grew up in Orange County, California (nothing like that T.V. show haha). And I know exactly what you're talking about with those Dinosaurs. I loved those things when I was a kid. 
And I moved to Charlotte almost seven years ago during July... so it was as humid as it could be. Started sweating right when we left the airport. 
Heck, even the spring is awful thanks to all that pollen (I seriously left my car to go to work, and when I came back 7 hours later it had a green tint as it was covered with pollen). I didn't have any allergy issues when in Cali... but I was absolutely miserable during my first few years in Charlotte.
